Reflections on the Necessity of Community

We posted over the course of one month on our social networks—check them out here.

We will also share the posts here as a blog. We hope this encourages you to get connected in our church.

Discovering Strength in Sharing

We pride ourselves in our individualistic sense of self-sufficiency in our modern life. Life can feel like a solo journey, one of the distinct aspects of gospel faith is meant to be shared. While it is essential to live a life of faith in solitude, where we find intimacy and beauty and the fullness in Christ, is revealed in the community. It's tough to carve out time, we're all busy, but those moments of shared worship and support? They're where we find strength and encouragement.

'Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.' - Ecclesiastes 4:9-101

'The Church is not a gallery for the exhibition of eminent Christians, but a school for the education of imperfect ones.' - Henry2 Ward Beecher

Let's remember, being part of a church community isn't just about attending services; it's about walking alongside each other, lifting each other up, and experiencing the transformative power of shared faith.

Solitude and Community: A Balanced Faith

We all need moments of quiet reflection, when we connect with God in the stillness of our hearts. But our faith also blossoms in the fertile ground of community. It's a delicate balance, solitude and togetherness, but both are essential. Finding time for community can be challenging, but the joy and support it offers are immeasurable.

'Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.' - Hebrews 10:253

'Where God builds a church, the devil builds a chapel beside it.' - Martin Luther (referencing the constant struggle and need for community)

We all need "embodied" relationships, where believers can experience genuine connection, accountability, and support. We have a false sense of connection through online relationships and social media for so many.

Let's strive to find that balance, honoring both our need for personal communion with God and our need for the encouragement and fellowship of a loving community.

Unveiling Encouragement in Fellowship

The busyness of life often pulls us away from the very things that nourish our souls. It’s easy to let church community become optional. Yet, within those gatherings, those moments of shared prayer and laughter, we often find the encouragement we desperately need. When we share our burdens, we find them lightened. When we share our joys, they multiply. The other reality is that you might not think you need community but the community needs you.

'Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.' - 1 Thessalonians 5:11

'The Christian is not a solitary figure, but a member of a body. We are not called to be lone rangers, but to be part of a team.' - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Let's make a conscious effort to prioritize community, to step out of our comfort zones, and to embrace the beautiful encouragement that comes from walking together in faith.
