Cedric and Wendy

Cedric and Wendy had always served in college fellowship and church leading Bible studies and Sunday schools, and very much saw their vocation as ministry as well. Being doctors, they would pray and share the good news with their patients while in America, and only saw it as natural to continue doing that on the mission field. Cedric went into HIV medicine with the vision to bring the gospel to modern day "lepers", and by God's grace have been ministering to this very special people group in East Asia. Their vision is to see communities of believers raised up from their patients and that they in turn would reach out to others in need.

From Cedric and Wendy themselves:

Praise God, in his perfect timing and provision, a group of HIV positive believers and some of their family members have formed to meet regularly for bible study and prayer. They also volunteer daily in the HIV clinic, counseling and sharing their testimonies with other HIV positive patients so that they can better take care of themselves and consistently take their HIV medication.

But this ministry admittedly takes an emotional toll on us as we have seen many of our patients (some of whom had become our friends) die of AIDS. It's especially heartbreaking for Wendy as a pediatrician to see little children die from HIV.

In terms of our family (3 children: Stephen, Claire, and Joseph), it's always challenging to raise children anywhere, but raising children on the mission field adds to the complexity. Our children have gone to many different schools and have moved many times in their lives. Like immigrant children they live between two different worlds: the Asian host culture and American. Sometimes they appreciate it, and sometimes they just wished we would live in America.

It takes a lot of grace, humility and wisdom and the prayers of many to thrive on the field!
