Rick and Deb Carey
Rick and Deb have been leading HOPE Bilble Missions for the last 25+ years. During that time they have lived in Guatemala for 10 of those years and are currently based out of the US working with the local staff in Guatemala. Guatemala has a densely populated missionary presence, however most of the work in the country is focused in bigger cities like Guatemala City and Antigua. Rick felt a calling to reach out to the hard to reach in Guatemala, in regions such as and Chel where the road infrastructure is poor La Perla and makes it difficult to travel to.
Their goal is to build up the rural communities through education and commerce so that the local people can help the area flourish and not feel the need to go elsewhere for better prospects. With Guatemala hit hard by hurricanes in the winter of 2020 it has been difficult traveling to the rural villages.
Pray for restoration of infrastructure and homes that were destroyed by the hurricanes. Also pray for wisdom in doing ministry in the midst of a pandemic. God has shown himself to be a great provider even during these times and HOPE has been able to help families rebuild lost homes and aid in distribution of food and supplies during the pandemic.
